When Maria Mercedes Pacheco saw for the first time how metals morphed to take shape into jewelry she was fascinated to the point she became a jeweler.
She attended the traditional Taller de Orfebrería Fanta y Janata in Bogota, Colombia; the Atelier de Bijouterie et Joaillerie de Claude Bergman in Lausanne, Switzerland; the Gemological Institute of America in New York, USA and the Taller Nirmal Gangadean in Goa, India, where she familiarized with traditional Asian techniques, due to the cultural exchange from travelers between Nepal and India. She describes her work as a painter where insted of using a canvas and a brush she uses natural stones and metals. For 30 years jewelry has allowed her to express her artistic vocation.
